Joining the HCC is a great opportunity for PHARMExcel to connect further with local Hertfordshire-based businesses sharing skills, experience, and business opportunity development. As a member, PHARMExcel will gain access to an extensive network of local and regional businesses from different sectors including a vibrant life sciences community. We’re looking forward to fostering valuable new business partnerships to help drive innovation and success within the Hertfordshire life science community.

Over a decade supporting economic growth and skilled workforce in Hertfordshire, UK

PHARMExcel HQ is located within the golden triangle of research and innovation excellence made up of powerful life sciences clusters in London, Oxford, and Cambridge. As a CRO supporting emerging biotechs and academic clinical trials, PHARMExcel is ideally positioned within a 10 mile radius of the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst, a European leading centre of excellence in the development and commercialisation of cutting-edge therapeutics.

This proximity to the golden triangle has enabled PHARMExcel to build a reputation in successfully delivering complex and challenging research studies across multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology, vaccines and infectious diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, and hepatology.

Recognised for business excellence at county and national level

From its role in the Covid vaccination research programme, PHARMExcel was recently recognised at the SME Herts Business Awards, winning Best Business of the Year, as well as Yvanne Enever, CEO, being awarded Businesswoman of the Year. Both highly esteemed awards, the nominations represent PHARMExcel’s valuable contribution to the Hertfordshire community and the wider UK life sciences industry.

PHARMExcel recognises that the success of the business is testament to its staff who demonstrate commitment, passion, and excellence every day. Therefore, investing in its employees is a priority and it’s proud to have been awarded Investors in People, Silver – an accreditation that only 15% of organisations achieve.

Supporting future talent

As a Hertfordshire-based business, PHARMExcel contributes to the local economy, bringing jobs and specialist skills into the county. It is currently working on establishing links with the University of Hertfordshire as part of its early career support initiative and is excited at the prospect of the development of a new medical school at the University – first in the county. These developments will further enrich the Hertfordshire life sciences research and innovation hub.

Last year, PHARMExcel launched its first undergraduate internship programme supporting 12 month work placements for undergraduate students. Working in the UK life sciences sector offers diverse career pathways and the exciting opportunity to play a role in global health. We look forward to offering more internships to develop future talent and supporting the career aspirations of our staff through exciting training and development opportunities.
