New Zion Christian Fellowship Foodbank Christmas Donation
Dani Harrison, HR/Wellbeing Manager and Stephanie Rowlands the new PA/Office Manager delivered the final foodbank donation of the year to the New Zion Christian Fellowship Foodbank in Welwyn Garden City. Lots of lovely Christmas food donations were given by the staff and it was gratefully received as always by the Coordinator Ian Matthews. A lovely way to end the year. We look forward to supporting them again next year!
The staff and PHARMExcel kindly contributed again to the local foodbank and Dani Harrison, Office/HR Manager and Lauren Enever, Admin Assistant organised this and purchased the items from the money donated and delivered them to the foodbank. Please read a report on the event written by Lauren.
New Zion Foodbank visit by Lauren Enever, Admin Assistant, 16th June 2021:
My first week at PHARMExcel as Admin Assistant has been a fulfilling one. Today has been a day of contribution and giving and a fantastic experience. All the team members generously contributed either by donating items or money (as we are still working remotely). The money was then used at the local supermarket to purchase lots of essential items including pasta, rice, tinned fruit, soup, and vegetables as well as toiletries and baby products which will be greatly valued by the local community.
These items were then taken to The New Zion foodbank located in Welwyn Garden City. Here, I met Ian Matthews who organises and keeps things running smoothly at the foodbank, as well as other volunteers who give up their time to benefit those in need.
With COVID procedures in place, Dani and I dropped the bags of donations outside of the foodbank where they were taken into the facility and the items sorted into groups. The volunteers will then make up mixed bags of goods which people can come and receive in exchange for their food vouchers; this is an efficient way of ensuring people obtain the items they require. In the past, the Company has donated to this foodbank at Easter and Christmas time as well as general donations throughout the year.
This is something PHARMExcel wishes to continue to do as often as we can, as just small contributions like this have such an important impact on those living in the local area.
Thank you to all that donated, I hope I can be involved in this again!
Thank you to Dani Harrison our HR Manager for taking PHARMExcel’s Easter donation to our local food bank charity. We hope there will be some happy families this Easter.
At this time of year, and more so than ever as a result of the global pandemic, many families have come to rely on charitable donations and the generosity of volunteers to have access to basic provisions. In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children. As a nation, we know it isn’t right that anyone should be left hungry or living in extreme poverty.
The Food Bank located at the New Zion Christian Fellowship, gives out about 500 items of food per week, for those residing in the Welwyn and Hatfield area, providing emergency food and compassionate, dignified support to people in real need.
PHARMExcel would like to say a massive shout out to Ian Matthews and his team for all their tireless efforts and volunteering to ensure people have access to these vital supplies. Find out more here.
Whilst we cannot change the current situation, PHARMExcel feel privileged to have been able to support this organisation for the last 2 years and will continue to play our small part. #oneteam #localcommunity #endpoverty
