PHARMExcel Shortlisted for SCRIP Awards 2025 as Best Specialist CRO

London, UK – 1 October 2025

PHARMExcel, a leading UK-based Contract Research Organisation (CRO), has been shortlisted for the prestigious SCRIP Awards 2025 in the Best Contract Research Organisation – Specialist Providers category. This recognition highlights PHARMExcel’s excellence in delivering tailored, high-quality clinical research solutions to biotech partners and pharmaceutical clients worldwide.

Now in its third decade, the SCRIP Awards are the pre-eminent Awards for the biopharma industry, celebrating organisations that make a significant impact on advancing healthcare and improving patient outcomes through innovation and excellence in the life sciences sector. The Award for the Best Contract Research Organisation acknowledges the critical role that CROs play in drug and therapy development and the specialist providers award in particular, aims to recognise the role that smaller CROs play in providing specialist services in the sector.

Why PHARMExcel stands out as a unique CRO

PHARMExcel CRO, stands out in the sector for its quality-driven approach and personalised service. These are particularly essential for the academic spin-outs, and early-stage biotechs that the company specialises in working with, because they typically have limited resources and therefore no room to get it wrong. Developing a speciality in working with these innovators was no accident, the company was in fact founded with the aim of providing clinical trial support that would bridge the gap between academic research and commercial clinical trials. PHARMExcel Founder and CEO Yvanne Enever identified through her own experience as a clinical nurse and an academic research head, that so many great ideas that could have helped patients, ended up stalling. The reasons for this were typically either lack of funding, not knowing how to navigate the regulatory landscape, or simply not having the right support.

Yvanne knew she could make a difference and as a result, today PHARMExcel works closely with these innovators, offering practical guidance, strategic thinking, and genuine respect for their vision. The comprehensive support that the CRO is able to offer, covers the whole clinical research journey, including: helping with grant applications, shaping protocols, handling ethics and MHRA submissions, site feasibility, or staying on top of day-to-day trial management. This personalised service and guidance helps more academic spin-outs and biotech partners to turn their science into real-world clinical trials and it is for this reason that that this UK CRO has been shortlisted for a SCRIP Award in this category.

This SCRIP Awards finalist also stands out for the depth of its experience and therapeutic expertise, which are arguably two key areas in which this UK CRO “punches above its weight”. With proven experience in complex trials across oncology, ophthalmology, rare diseases, vaccines, medical devices and advanced therapies, this specialist CRO has established itself, based on clinical trial delivery excellence, in instances where complexity is high and experience really matters.

PHARMExcel award-winning studies

Some of the noteworthy clinical trials that PHARMExcel has partnered with clients on, which demonstrate this therapeutic expertise include: partnering with Barking and Havering NHS Trust on an investigator-led mental health study of a next-generation brain-machine interface to develop the world’s first mental health treatment using ultrasound; partnering with INmune Bio, to manage a Phase I oncology (ATMP) trial of intravenous NK cell-targeted therapy in patients with high-risk Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) and Acute Myelocytic Leukemia (AML) and lastly; partnering with the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) Network to lead the phase I oncology clinical trial for TRALA (Targeted Radiotherapy for AL-Amyloidosis), researching a new transplant pre-conditioning technique developed by the Targeted Radiotherapy Group at Southampton ECMC.

Another aspect that makes PHARMExcel not one’s typical CRO, is how it delivers beyond expectations for its clients in areas like regulatory support, innovative problem solving and operational efficiency. This CRO displays a genuine determination to mobilise all of its knowledge, expertise and passion for what they do into every project. Whether applying its extensive regulatory knowledge and deep understanding of UK and EU regulatory pathways to guide a first time medtech innovator or mobilising their entire organisation to find a way to plan and deliver the COVBoost clinical trial within a 5-month time period, PHARMExcel consistently goes the extra mile.

Yvanne Enever, CEO of PHARMExcel echoes this when commenting on this year’s SCRIP Award nomination, “Being shortlisted for the SCRIP Awards 2025 is a tremendous honour. This recognition reflects the dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit of our team, who consistently deliver patient-focused clinical research solutions that help our clients bring innovative therapies to market.”

PHARMExcel is proud to be recognised for the second year running alongside other industry leaders shortlisted in the category, including Allucent, Cytel and OWL Oncology Research. Yvanne and the PHARMExcel team will be in attendance at Awards presentation on 11 December at the Hilton Park Lane in London, celebrating their achievements in clinical trial delivery excellence, and hopefully they will take home a win too.
